The treatment of work related musculoskeletal disorders has the below mentioned approaches:

1. Restricted movement

The first and the most useful approach to treat various work related disorders is to avoid activities causing injury which also leads to work restrictions. In some cases a splint is used to restrict the movements and to stable the injured joint. Splints are basically used to support a joint or to restrict the movement of the injured joint. But this has to be used under proper guidance otherwise it can also create more damage to the affected joint.

2. Heat or cold resources application

Heat is usually recommended for muscle strains and to get relief from pain because it increases the blood flow, which further facilitates the elimination of an important lactic acid build up. On the other hand, cold reduces swelling, pain and inflammations. Application of ice is recommended immediately after an injury occurred and that too only for a few days.

3. Exercise

Various types of stretching exercises are very beneficial because it facilitates the blood circulation and reduces muscle pain and tension. However, those who are suffering from work related musculoskeletal disorders should consult a physical therapist before doing any exercise because it has to be done under the proper guidance.

4. Medication and Surgery

There are many drugs and various pain killers which can reduce pain and inflammation in the affected part of the body. But if all treatments fail, then the only left in front of any doctor is surgery.
